After a few quiet years I’ve decided to start creating and writing once again.
I have been spending a large part of my time reading and watching many articles - about software design, devops, managment, cooking, restoration.
However now is the time to be an active creator rather than passive consumer. We’ll see how long this lasts and how busy I end up with on other projects.
How I ended up here?
This site (and my business site have been through several versions over the decades:
- Mediawiki and wordpress
- Drupal
- Basic bootstrap
- Hugo
Initially I kept documentation on mediawiki and had a wordpress blog (when that was first de rigueur). This was all self-hosted at one end of ADSL (along with my email server which worked really well for a decade or so).
To shake up my life, I sold my house and moved to London, renting a tiny room in the middle of Chinatown. The server had to go, I migrated most stuff to a box in the cloud and also moved to Drupal as I wanted a proper CMS (content management system).
Fast forward a few years and fed-up of the constant security issues in drupal, the site was moved to a minimal static website, hand-rolled using Bootstrap. Most of the articles on the old site were of little use by now.
Today, at the end of another year of personal change (2019) it’s time to get off my backside and contribute back - or at the very least practice writing for an audience. Time will tell…
The pictures are from Rainbow mountatin in Peru, which was a personal highlight (only topped by the Inca trail).
